About Undersea Expeditions
Since its founding by Chris Winkle in 1991, Undersea Expeditions has offered “gay-friendly” group adventures to the world’s most exotic dive locations, as well as dive travel planning services to our community. Their mission continues today under the management of Greg Hamman, an avid diver with a background in international business and a belief that bringing more gays and lesbians into scuba diving offers our community a vacation alternative, while benefiting conservation by adding our collective voices and economic power to those who are helping to protect these amazing ecosystems.
Looking for an out of the ordinary vacation experience? Undersea Expeditions charter whole live-aboards and book blocks of hotel rooms, and the staff consistently e-mail us asking when our group will return, since they have as much fun hosting us as we do staying with them. They travel to the best dive destinations: Cuba, Micronesia, the Caribbean, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Galapagos.
Beginners get their dive certification on many of their trips, and experienced divers appreciate the exotic ports of call and live-aboard dive opportunities. Meet new dive buddies and enjoy diving with OUR family.

About the Hosts
Steve Thompson, Host
Steve has personally traveled over 1 million miles to almost every continent. He cherishes the moments as a child camping with his family and roughing it in the great outdoors. He’s stayed in some of the world’s finest hotels, has eaten at some of the best restaurants, but always likes camping in a tent outdoors, cooking on a campfire, and sleeping on the ground, or eating at tacky diners.
Steve is 2 certifications away from PADI Recreational Master Diver and his scuba certifications include emergency first responder & rescue diver, deep underwater diving and night diving. Also a snow skier, water skier, jet skier and off-road ATV and dirt bike rider.
For fun Steve paints abstract art in acrylic and plays a MIDI wind synthesizer. He has rescued several dogs and has one of his causes is rescuing greyhounds. Steve enjoys time with family and friends, of which Co-Host Eric Waldron has been a close friend since 1998.
Eric Waldron, Co-Host
Eric spent 15 years circling the globe as a flight attendant before settling down as a concierge for the one of the world’s leading luxury brands. He has explored everywhere from Alaska to the Whitsunday Islands of Australia. He’s seen the inside of bars, views from mountain peaks and the sunset on countless seas.
An avid long distance cyclist, Eric has completed multiple AIDS/Lifecycle rides from San Francisco to Los
Angeles helping set records for fundraising. He enjoys hiking, camping and almost all outdoor activities. His childhood in Utah gave him the opportunity to enjoy year round outdoor sports, but also left him eager to find a more open minded world.
